Smiling Otter Canoe & Kayak offers canoe and kayak rentals, as well as paddling instruction, during the summer months based from Slocan, BC. The Slocan Lake and the surrounding West Kootenay Region are internationally recognized destinations for multi-day lake paddling trips and whitewater river paddling.
Slocan Lake is a pristine mountain lake, 40 kilometers long, with over 11 campsites along its shores. Nine of these campsites are located on the western shores within Valhalla Provincial Park. Many of our guests enjoy a 3-5 day trip paddling the entire length of this beautiful lake, staying at BC Parks campsites and exploring local hiking trails.
We invite you to explore the incredibly beautiful West Kootenay Region by canoe, touring kayak, or stand-up paddleboard (SUP). All safety equipment is provided. We offer single and multi-day rentals, shuttle service, and trip support. Our quality boats are locally made by Hellman Canoes and other reputable Canadian brands. Our paddling instructors are certified through the Recreational Canoe Association of BC.
